Four females were travelling in a train from Somerset west to Eersterivier on Thursday. The strain stopped at Hilgrove station. Two men armed with an emty beer bottle approached them that time.
The man threatened them and forced them to take out all their belongings and give to them. When the train was just about to leave the station, the four girls managed to jump off.
The victims are between the ages 20 and 28. They were injured and were taken to Helderberg Hospital. One of the victims was later transferred to Tygerberg Hospital due to her serious injuries.
The suspects fled the scene on foot the same time the four women jumped off the train. Late on Thursday after an investigation the police arrested two suspects who were a positive link to the incident.
The suspects are age 20 and 21 from Maccasar. They will appear in Somerset Magistrates’ court on Monday 19 July 2010 for attempted robbery.
