Lusanda Bill
16 July 2010
Trade union Solidarity and the Union of Mineworkers (NUM) have rejected a wage offer that was made by Exxaro.
The company made a wage offer of a 7 percent increase and an offer regarding the standardising of three issues during the second round of wage negotiations.
The members of Solidarity and the Union of Mineworkers have stated that unless the company revise the offer and must include the issue of grading which has been dragging on for three years then they won’t take the offer.
Jaco Kleynhans stated that there is a huge problem of degrading and the different salaries is another issue which needs to be rectified.
Unless Exxaro changes the offer then Solidarity and NUM won’t be accepting the offer.
The second round of negotiations is taking place today.
