African National Congress President, Jacob Zuma has questioned why funding for political parties is viewed with suspicion.
Addressing a fundraising dinner in Durban last night, on the eve of the ANC’s third national general council, Zuma said parties such as the ANC promote the stability and secure environment in which business thrives.
He says it is therefore good value for money to invest in the ruling party, which is supported by more than 65-percent of the population.
Meanwhile, all eyes are expected to be on Durban for the next three days for what is seen as a crucial mid-term review for Zuma.
Observers will be watching to see what sort of power Youth League leader Julius Malema wields at the NGC.
