Three prisoners who escaped from the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday have been rearrested, police said.
The three were part of nine prisoners awaiting trial.
Western Cape police’s Billy Jones says 21-year-old Zolani Hermanus who was arrested for rape was rearrested in Cradock yesterday morning. Twenty-eight-year-old Thembele Mqoba and 21-year-old Lubabalo Mabhuti, charged respectively with rape and murder, were rearrested in Delft and Khayelitsha on Friday.
A 45 year old sergeant allegedly helped the men escape from the holding cells on Wednesday.
The sergeant has been arrested and will appear in court on Monday.
Police are still searching for the other escaped prisoners.

The think the sergeant is getting two salaries per month 1. The Goverment salary and the so called " THUG SALARY PAY ROLL". Prisoners who escaped around 1 and they only find out at 4 that they have escaped. This is unethical to have corrupt police in the SAPS.
