Heritage Day celebrations

Today the 24th of September in South Africa is known as Heritage Day. South Africans today are celebrating their very diverse backgrounds.

The official celebration will be taking place in Durban, at the Moses Mabhiba stadium. President Jacob Zuma will be delivering the keynote address.

The focus will be South Africa’s successful hosting of the Soccer World Cup.

Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille is the Southern Cape today, she will be speaking at a Heritage Day rally in George.

Joe Mcgluwa of the Independent Democrats said “On this day we should come together as South Africans and celebrate our new identity as a country that is today free”.
