The Gauteng Education MEC Barbara Creecy has stated that cancelling the matric preliminary examinations is not an option.
There has been a huge confusion in the matric timetable in many of the schools across the country.
Student body The Congress of South African Students (COSAS), this week interrupted classes in Soweto and on the West Rand.
Cosas claims that they interrupted classes because learners are not ready to write the exams, due to the disruption of the prolonged public servants’ strike.
Also in the Eastern Cape, Port Elizabeth matrics disrupted classes yesterday.
MEC Barbara Creecy says police will be deployed to schools should protesting pupils further disrupt the exams.
