Somerset West police officer arrested for murder

An off duty police officer has been arrested for murder as well as attempted murder on Tuesday evening, police said.

The shooting happened at the single quarters located at the Somerset West police station.

Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut says,” the female police officer entered the room of her 33-year-old male colleague and shot him in the stomach and his 26 year-old girlfriend who died on the scene.”

The 27-year-old is currently in police custody.

The suspect is due to make a court appearance in Somerset West once she’s been charged.
