Two killed in a truck collision

Two men died and one is seriously injured when two trucks collided on the N2 near Clare Road Bridge earlier this morning.

It is still not known what caused the accident. A full investigation into the incident is underway.

Netcare911 Paramedics said they found a heavy goods vehicle and an articulated truck had burst through the roadside barrier and rolled several times before coming to rest at the foot a roadside embankment.

The bodies of the men were flung from both trucks. Both men sustained severe injuries and died on the scene.

The third man was seriously injured had to be freed using the Jaws of Life.

He was transported to the Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital for the specialist care he required.
