33-thousand Zimbabweans apply for South African ID documents

More than 33-thousand Zimbabwean nationals have applied for documentation at the Home Affairs Department.

Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma says more than one-thousand Zimbabweans, have also handed over their fake South African ID documents.

This is part of the department’s amnesty programme which is underway in the country.

The minister stated that her department has adjudicated nearly 10-thousand of the applications so far.

The Zimbabweans living in South Africa illegally have been given until the end of the year to apply for work, study and business permits by the department.
