A Eastern Cape constable shot dead in the head

A 22-year-old police constable has died after being shot today in the Eastern Cape.

He and other officer were dropping off a domestic violence victim in Duncan Village when they heard gunshots.

Lieutenant Colonel Mtati Tana said “The officers immediately responded and drove in the direction of the gun fire. They came across a black Volkswagen Golf parked on the side of the road surrounded by a group of about 12 people. Police identified themselves and were then shot at”.

The 12 ran away before the cops could get them.

No arrests have been made yet.
