Police from Sutherland in the Northern Cape are busy with an immense search for a man who shot and killed a student constable and seriously wounded a second policeman.
The shooting took place yesterday when a farmer asked for assistance in evicting a French couple from a house on his property.
Spokesperson Hendrik Swart says they found several illegal guns in the house in which the couple were staying and while they were leaving, the man began firing at them.
The student officer died on the scene and the wounded man was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.
The couple have fled into the veld and trackers are being used to help find them.
