The countrywide road freight workers’ strike is expected to intensify today.
This follows deadlocked negotiations between road freight workers and employers.
The Road Freight Employers’ Association upped its wage offer by 0.5% to 8% across the board but the four unions involved in the strike did not accept it.
The unions are demanding a 10% increase this year and in 2012.
About 65 000 workers have downed tools.
