The Minister in the Presidency Trevor Manuel has appealed to South Africans who have not yet been counted to contact the Census 2011 offices and ask to be counted.
Manuel announced the official closing of Census 2011 in Pretoria yesterday.
However, he expressed his concern that there are still pockets of resistance where people are not co-operating.
He says it is every South African citizen's responsibility to help government with information about the population.
Meanwhile, Census workers in Durban downed tools yesterday, complaining they were being paid less than their counterparts in other provinces.
The striking workers say they have learnt that their Johannesburg counterparts are to receive some R9 000 while they were only getting R5 000.
However, Statistician-General Pali Lehohla insists that all workers will be paid R5 000 according to their contracts.
Supervisors will receive R7 500.

I had a lengthy conversation with the census worker that visited our home. She said they were offered R5000 for the job. What they were not told (beforehand) is that there would be a R1500 tax automatic tax deduction. They were informed of this after they had accepted the contract and already begun the work.
This is just another typical abusive action initiated by "government". But what I find even more disgusting is the slew of "positive" feedback in the mainstream media regarding the "successes" of the census process.
It's all just too much b*llsh!t. Politicians, the media and the financial institutions have picked the meat from the bones of the people for too long.
Pali Lehohla is liar he said enumerators wil be paid on 10 Nov but they are not yet paid.
