Blue bottle sting can be dangerous

A 58 year-old man from Athlone in Cape Town died after swimming to the tendrils of a number of blue bottles at Strand.

Roland Singh was brought to the shore by a friend and given treatment but died afterwards.

The paramedics say fatal allergic reaction to blue bottle sting is uncommon.However certain individuals that are prone to allergies can have extreme reactions to the poison.

The victim`s heart and the lungs were affected by the poison
