Police were working on strong information to arrest the 51-year-old Modimolle who is wanted for the attack on his estranged wife and murder of her son.
Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi says there is strong information that we are following up. He says they have received a lot of tip-offs from members of the public in a very short space of time.
Mulaudzi said police were concerned, however, about information from the case leaking to the media.
This followed a report on Wednesday that the man had been arrested in Kimberley.
