A man was necklaced by Thaba Nchu community members in the early hours of Monday morning.
Constable Consolation Mokoale said the man was believed to be a livestock thief after he was found in a kraal in Gladstone Trust, Thaba Nchu, when he was attacked around 00:30.
.He was reportedly severely assaulted before being necklaced .
Necklacing involves forcing a rubber tyre soaked with petrol around a person's chest and arms, and setting it on fire. The man was still on fire when the police arrived. He was later declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
