Future university students could register at a central point

The Department of Higher Education is planning on having university students in future apply directly to the department for admission.

Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande said the department would certainly be moving towards a system of central applications.

Nzimande said this would be aimed at addressing the large number of applicants.

This follows the death of a woman after a stampede at the University of Johannesburg.
