In Mpumalanga six people were killed in floods that destroyed parts of the province.
Initially only two people were reported dead.
Spokesperson Simphiwe Kunene mentioned in a statement that the death toll had rose to six people.
Some of the areas affected by the floods were Mkomazi, Bushbuckridge, Thabachweu, Mbombela, and the Umjindi municipalities.
