Yesterday Metrorail said that train maintenance at this time of the year was necessary, due to a shortage in supply of parts.
Train services from Bellville to Cape Town were affected as urgent repair and maintenance work was carried out on carriage wheels.
Metrorail Regional Manager Lindelo Matya said that normally maintenance work is done during the festive season when train services are reduced.
Matya further said spare parts to fix carriages are now available.
