The Southern Cape police have reported that a child, who was knocked over in George this past weekend, remains in hospital in a critical condition.

The 35-year-old driver was arrested on Saturday.

It is reported that the man drove into a dozen children playing in a yard in front of a home in Lawaaikamp before he crashed into a wall.

The police’s Malcolm Poje said they were initially told that the child had passed away but that information is incorrect.

Poje confirmed that they are still in hospital and that one is in intensive care.

The suspect appeared in court and was granted bail.
