There is no sign of construction going ahead at the proposed site of a toll plaza on Chapman's
Peak Drive
in Cape Town.

Contractors have been employed to erect a building, but protesters are holding a vigil nearby.

Protester Bronwen Lankers-Byrne has embarked on a hunger strike. She is seated below a makeshift tent surrounded by placards.

While some motorists do not stop to sign the petition, they hoot to show support.
