Cape Town has seen a rise in ATM bombings in the past few weeks.

Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa said that these ATM bombings in Cape Town could be the result of crime syndicates including gangs.

Mthethwa also said that the gangs are becoming desperate for resources now that the police are cracking down on their activities.

There were six ATM attacks across Cape Town in recent days.

Mthethwa further said that issues like cash-in-transit heists have gone down.
