Municipal authorities in Carolina, Mpumalanga have started pouring lime into the town’s water system.
This comes after the water was declared just indrinkable.
This was because of suspected seepage from two abandoned coal mines in the Nkomati catchment area.
Tests conducted by the municipality revealed that the iron levels in the water were seven times higher than what is an acceptable level for drinking water.
