Electricians and fire-fighters are investigating a fire which occurred in Port Elizabeth’s Dora Nginza hospital.

The fire forced evacuation of 53 premature babies from their ward.

Eastern Cape health spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo says it is highly suspected that an electrical fault caused the blaze.

Kupelo says the babies and their mothers are out of danger and the hospital is continuing to care for them.
