Minister in the Presidency Trevor Manuel says that farmers will have to increase agriculture outputs by 20 percent.

This is to ensure that a growing demand for food is met. The Minister spoke today at AgriSA’s annual conference in Stellenbosch.

Manuel said South Africa’s current population of around 50 million people is set to rise to 58.5 million by 2030.

The Minister admits that government would have to find a new way in approaching the sensitive subject of land reform.
