The Health Department's decision to re-advertise the jobs of more than 90 hospital`s chief executives has been welcome by medical professionals.

Minister of Health Mr Aaron Motsoaledi said that to ensure that hospital managers were suitable qualified, one of the specific requirements was a medical background.

South African Medical Association’s Norman Mabasa reiterated that a hospital manager with a medical background would run a facility in a better way.

Mabasa further said that it is always important to employ sector specific management, rather than appointing someone with a general skill.
The Democratic Alliance’s Patricia Kopane agreed that it was important to hire people with the right expertise to fill the important positions.

Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi said that no jobs would be lost.
