A Phillipi mother, whose daughter lost a leg after she was apparently run over by a municipal refuse removal vehicle, says she is concerned about her child's future.

Doctors had to amputate three-year-old Iviwe Mehlo's right leg, following the 2010 accident.

Mandisa Mehlo said a lawyer informed her she can only claim from the Road Accident Fund in five years time.

The mother said she was forced to carry the toddler on her back as she cannot be with other children.
