New rules for ministers proposed

The Democratic Alliance has slammed the proposed new Ministerial Handbook as a nasty joke at the expense of the poor.

The new regulations will only result in a 10-percent reduction in ministers’ car allowances.

At 60-percent of their salaries, ministers will still be able to spend more than a million rands on new cars.

Kobus Marais Shadow Minister of Public Services and Administration says that this is unacceptable in a country where more than 2.5 million people have to survive on less than R15.00 a day.
