Police have arrested approximately 120 people involved in the clashes around the Impala Platinum mine in Rustenburg over the past three days.
The mine has since retrenched 17,200 employees for striking illegally in January. This has since caused violent behaviour.
The South African Police Service said that while people continue to gather in large numbers, there have not been much instances of looting and assault.
The police have reinforced their operation and will be patrolling the area this weekend.
