Chris Whelan appointed the new CEO of Accelerate Cape Town

The Business think tank and leadership network facilitator Accelerate Cape Town has appointed Chris Whelan as the new Chief Executive Officer.

Whelan the former associate director of Ernst & Young will take his new position as CEO on the 1 July 2012.

Accelerate Cape Town’s present CEO Guy Lundy will be stepping down after five years at the helm of the organisation.

Lundy says he has all the confidence on Whelan.


Accelerate Cape Town Board Chairman Jock McKenzie says that they ran a rigorous selection process over a period of several months and they are confident that this has ensured the best successor for Guy.

McKenzie added that they were all impressed with Chris’ broad experience, as well as the enthusiasm he showed for the work that Accelerate Cape Town is doing.
