With the biggest even of its kind currently underway, the 35-thousand cyclists will have to brace themselves for extreme heat around the peninsula in the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour.
One of the features in this year’s race will be spot checks for drug abuse.
In recent times cycling has had bad press and organizes has vowed to stamp out the practice.
Sports minister Fikile Mbalula joined the race and says that checking for doping is being done to ensure fairness for everyone.
