Eastern Cape not neglected
Andiswa Mkosi
17 March 2012
President Jacob Zuma says yesterday’s opening of the new multi-billion-Rands Port of Ngqura Port Elizabeth should end the idea that the Eastern Cape has been ignored.
The port is said to be the deepest container terminal in sub-Saharan Africa.
It will accommodate the new generation of giant container ships that regularly visit the country’s shores.
Transnet has built the port over the past 12 year. It forms part of the Coega Industrial Development Zone.
