Human Settlements Minister Tokyo Sexwale says the primary task of his department is to de-racialise apartheid cities and towns.

Sexwale said that they are planning to create new cities.

Sexwale today told local government leadership in the Western Cape that President Jacob Zuma’s announcement of a massive infrastructure programme provides an opportunity to build new towns without townships.

Sexwale added that the main aim of these new developments would be to integrate the townships into the new South African cities.
