The Minister of fisheries Tina Joemat-Pettersson will not be relocating her department.

The department was said to be moved from the Western Cape branch to Pretoria.

This follows pressure from the Democratic Alliance to reverse her decision to move coastal management inland.

Joemat-Pettersson told parliament’s fisheries committee that only a portion of staff include human resources and legal services will be located to Pretoria.

The Democratic Alliance’s Pieter van Dalen has welcomed the Minister’s decision.
