On Thursday opposition parties said they will speak one voice against the protection of state information bill.

This weekend nine opposition parties will host a public meeting in Khayelitsha to address concerns on the proposed legislation.

The group stressed that this will be a meeting of equals.

If the bill is passed, opposition party leaders could approach the constitutional court in Johannesburg to challenge the validity of the law.

The DA, UDM and COPE said their parties always worked separately, but joined forces for the same cause.

None of the parties confirmed if the meeting was a sign that the opposition could unite in the future.
