Minister Nathi Mthethwa on Wednesday told officers in a township outside Paarl to start doing their job and work with the community.

Mthethwa was addressing the communities of Paarl and Stellenbosch about South African PoliceService's war on crime.

Mthethwa said that residents from the Mbekweni Township voiced their concerns about the apparent poor police service in the area.

Mthethwa added that if the officers can not do what they are supposed to do, we don’t need them there.
