The South African Police Service today said that action would be taken against a 10111 call centre operator.

The operator allegedly swore at Crime Line Head, Yusuf Abramjee.

Abramjee called the number on Sunday afternoon to report a suspicious vehicle.

Abramjee alleges that the operator failed to take down the details and then put the phone down in his hear several times as he tried to call back before swearing at him.

Police spokesperson Vish Naidoo said that If it’s found that the member had behaved in a manner which is alleged, this matter could lead to disciplinary action, as well as possible dismissal.

Abramjee has also lodged a complaint with the Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD).
