A 38 year-old man arrested for the murder of his niece

A 38 year-old man was arrested on Saturday for the murder of a two year-old girl at Heinz Park In Phillipi.

The girl was left in the care of a 12 year-old girl by the mother.

The uncle of the deceased sent the older girl to the shops, it is alleged that the uncle stabbed the two year-old girl to death and hid her body under the bed.

When the mother returned and noticed that her daughter was missing she alerted the Nyanga police.

Warrant Officer November Filander said that the police started with their search and found the body of the little girl in her uncle`s shack.

Filander added that the man was charged with murder and will appear in court on Monday.
