MEC for community safety in the Western Cape Dan Plato has urged all motorists in the Western Cape to exercise caution over this long weekend.
The MEC’s spokesperson Greg Wagner said the MEC has asked that motorists pay specific attention to buckling up and also to keep their lights on.
Wagner added that motorists are also asked to stick to the speed limit, maintain a safe following distance at all times, not to drink and drive and to remain calm during stressful situations such as road blocks or being slowed down by road works.
A 24 hour hotline is available to report any incident or problem on 021 946 1646.
