A head-on collision leaves one person injured

A head-on collision between a small vehicle and a bakkie near Stellenbosch left one person critically injured.

The accident happened on the R44 towards Klapmuts this afternoon.

Emergency Services Spokesperson Keri Davids said that paramedics had to use the Jaws of Life to remove the driver from the car.

Davids also said the driver sustained serious injuries and had to be airlifted to Stellenbosch Medi-clinic by the AMS Rescue Helicopter.

 Davids added that the driver of the bakkie was unharmed.
