The remains of a Khoisan couple have been returned to South African after it was illegally smuggled to Austria.
Just over 100 years ago the bodies of Klaas and Trooi Pienaar was smuggled to Austria by a scientist for experimentation purposes.
The minister of Arts and Culture Paul Mashitile held a homecoming ceremony at the OR Tambo International Airport in Ekurhuleni.
Spokesperson to the minister Lisa Combrinck said more 140 bodies were believed to have been taken illegally out of the country.
