Two incidents of vandalism have contributed to delays of trains this morning.
A 44 volt transformer was stolen between Kasselsvlei and Sarepta.
In the early hours of this morning eight signal head cables were cut between Stock Road station and Mandalay Station.
Metrorail’s regional manager in the Western Cape Mthuthuzeli Swartz said affected the train performance between those areas.
He added that as a result they had to use buses to transport commuters and they also did manual authorisations.
Swartz said this caused a lot of delays in train operations this morning.
Swartz said they are confident that this will be restored by this afternoon in time for the peak-hour.
To report vandalism contact the toll-free number on 080 021 0081.
