A worker was lucky to escape with his life when he fell nearly six metres onto a concrete floor in a boiler room at the Universitas Academic Hospital Bloemfontein
Jeff Wicks Netcare 911 spokesperson says the man, a member of the hospital’s maintenance team, had been walking on a corrugated iron roof of the boiler room when a trap door gave way beneath him.
Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the man in a serious condition, having sustained spinal injuries as well as lacerations and abrasions.
