Crime operations result in arrests in Gugulethu

Since Monday police has been conducting crime operations which resulted in the arrest of 30 suspects.

The suspects were arrested for various charges relating to recent violence in Gugulethu.

Five of the 30 suspects are suspected of murdering a 36-year-old man last weekend.

Captain FC Van Wyk said that the victim was part of the community and conducted patrols in the area to combat crime.

Van Wyk said that the patrols were not part of a structured neighbourhood watch.

The suspects are due in court once they have been charged with their respective crimes.
