Defence and Military Veterans Minister Lindiwe Sisulu and Eastern Cape Premier Noxolo Kiviet are signing a Memorandum of Understanding.
The signing will take place at the Mthatha Airport today.
The agreement will see provincial government hand over the airport to the Ministry of Defence for five years for training and military exercises.
Spokesperson Ncedo Kumbaca says in return, the Ministry will help to construct a new runway at the airport to accommodate bigger aircraft.
