The Democratic Alliance is concerned about the early release of 35 thousands prisoners on remission.

The DA Shadow Minister of Correctional Services James Selfe says he would like to know, what steps were taken to minimise re-offending to the prisoners.

Selfe says that in 2005 prisoners were released and some of them were back in jail again, for other offences.

Selfe says that a preliminary report presented to the Portfolio Committee on Correctional Services by the Correctional Services in August 2005, It shows a high number of crimes committed by released prisoners in a short period of time.
