The former ANC Youth League president said in Johannesburg today that it never crossed his mind to start his own party.
He was speaking publically for the first time since his expulsion last month by the party's national disciplinary appeals committee.
He denies calling President Jacob Zuma a dictator, saying he was just discussing leadership styles in the party and not criticising the President as an individual.
Malema was joined by suspended Youth League secretary general Sindiso Magaqa and spokesperson Floyd Shivambu.
