Government has confirmed that Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has applied to the
Constitutional Court
to appeal against the interdict by the North Gauteng High Court stopping Sanral from collecting tolls on parts of Gauteng highways.

Gordhan is being supported by several of his colleagues.

Government feels that the North Gauteng High Court’s ruling is a unique intervention in public finance matters.

Government also feels that it is a fundamental break of the division of powers as stipulated in the Constitution.
