MEC for Community Safety in the Western Cape Dan Plato said the Minister of Police Nathi Mthethwa’s opposition to the Western Cape Community Safety Bill is disappointing and strange.

Plato said the Western Cape Community Safety Bill is not infringing with the constitution of South Africa.

He added that the constitution was carefully considered during the drafting of the bill, and they are confident that it is inline with the constitution.

Plato said it is disappointing that the minister [Mthethewa] is opposing this attempt to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the police in the Western Cape.
