The Commission for Cultural Rights has expressed shock at the destruction of the communal grave of the Cradock Four in the town’s Lingelihle’s township.

Activists Matthew Goniwe, Fort Calata, Sparrow Mkonto and Sicelo Mhlauli were murdered by security police 27 years ago.

The Commission has called on Eastern Cape residents to come forward with any information about the vandalism.

Officials will be visiting other affected cemeteries in the province like the Veeplaas Community Cemetery and the Aliwal North Concentration Camp this month as part of their monitoring and conflict resolution task.
